He is the Director of Avant Concierge Urology in Winter Garden, Florida, and has performed over 3000 microsurgical procedures. He has also developed a multi-disciplinary program dedicated to the treatment of male infertility and groin/testicular pain.
Before pursuing medicine, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, which has given him a unique perspective on incorporating technology, robotics, and microsurgery into surgical techniques. In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Parekattil is a a founding board member of the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) and the International Microsurgical Simulation Society (IMSS), both of which focus on developing new tools and platforms for robotic-assisted microsurgery and improving microsurgical training techniques. He also serves on the foundation board for Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland, Florida, and is an Executive Board Member of the Florida Urological Society.
With a passion for teaching, he serves as an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Central Florida, and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Zambia, Lusaka, Africa.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Parekattil has been the recipient of two Annual Innovator Awards from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Golden Garland Award in Medicine in 2012.
