Nov 17, 2022
Get to know Dr. Shawn Allen, a sinus and nasal surgeon with added expertise in sleep apnea surgery who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.
New York City, New York Nov 17, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Committed to comprehensive and compassionate care, Dr. Allen welcomes patients at My Houston Surgeons with offices in Houston and The Woodlands, Texas.
"The nose plays such an important role in how we breathe, sleep, and function day to day. I love my job as a Rhinologist and ENT Surgeon. The treatments and procedures I provide improve quality of life consistently. I'm not rushed in the office because I enjoy the entire process, and I think patients appreciate this about our visits. I show how much I care about their health by listening, educating, and encouraging treatments that are going to help them live better lives" expressed the doctor.
Born in Houston, Texas, his family moved to Tennessee at the age of six, where he developed an interest in science and medicine while learning piano and enjoying the outdoors. He met his wife in medical school at the University of Tennessee. After completing his medical education and residency in Otolaryngology in Tennessee, and his fellowship training in Rhinology (sinus and skull base surgery) at the University of Miami, he moved his family to the Houston area to develop an Otolaryngology (ENT) practice specializing in the care of sinus and nasal breathing disorders as well as surgical alternatives for obstructive sleep apnea.
Recognized as a fellowship-certified sinus expert, Dr. Allen is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships and has overseen training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Rhinologic Society (ARS). He has authored multiple scientific publications and book chapters, and continues to lecture for academic departments and at international Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery courses.
Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Subspecialty training in Rhinology, or endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery, is much more recently with the addition of fellowship training programs in the early 2000s as advances in technology allowed for improved sinus surgery techniques. Rhinologists have unique expertise and additional training in the management of complex or challenging sinus disease, nasal airway surgery, and other complex disorders such as the endoscopic removal of sinus, nasal, and skull base tumors, repair of nasal spinal fluid leaks, and much more.
Outside of work, Dr. Allen enjoys spending time with his wife and children, creating music, woodworking, and staying active. He has strong family ties to Houston and surrounding areas in Texas, and is excited to call The Woodlands home and become an integral part of the local medical community.

Is China a Russia-allied Arctic threat to Europe or a potential polar partner?
Europe should work with Beijing to develop shipping through the Arctic rather than trying to advance its transatlantic security alliance by framing China as a threat linked to Russia. That was the assessment of Chinese analysts following the release of the European Union’s Arctic policy on Tuesday. In addition to identifying Russia as its main threat, the policy warns of Beijing’s growing strategic ambitions in the European Arctic through its deepening alignment with Moscow. “With our new...

China’s offshore tax crackdown could inadvertently fuel a digital dollar boom
From October 22, China’s grace period for the disclosure and settlement of certain offshore-trust tax liabilities ends. For the Chinese government, this deadline highlights its desire to affirm control over capital outflows, while for Chinese high-net-worth families, it serves as a reminder that it is now harder to keep international assets beyond the reach of the government. The deadline sits against the backdrop of China tightening scrutiny around cryptocurrency, stablecoins and real-world...
