He is passionate about helping patients restore their quality of life through the effective control and elimination of their pain problems.

The Diagnostic Pain Center is a multi-physician, private practice that offers individualized treatment plans for comprehensive pain management care. The doctors believe that this model better enables them to invest in patient relationships and create treatment plans that are truly custom-tailored to patients' unique needs. Their top priority is to improve patients' quality of life through accurate diagnosis, highly effective treatment methods, and specialized care.

Fully trained in both interventional and non-interventional techniques, this, combined with his dedication to staying at the forefront of new medical research, affords Dr. Marks a deeper understanding of the myriad of pain conditions and their causes. He is affiliated with Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, St. David's Medical Center, and Northwest Hills Surgical Hospital.

Prior to practicing in Austin, he was an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center who enjoyed teaching residents & medical students the fundamentals of anesthesiology and pain management.

Academically, Dr. Marks graduated with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he completed his medical school training at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, followed by two years of residency in general surgery and a three-year residency in anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He culminated his formal medical training with a one-year pain management fellowship at the prestigious International Pain Center at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, one of the top pain management fellowships in the country where he was trained by the internationally renowned Dr. Gabor Racz and Dr. Miles Day.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in anesthesiology and pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance the lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Throughout his line of work, Dr. Marks has presented at national and international meetings including the Texas Pain Society, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Gulf Atlantic Anesthesia Residency Research Conference. He continues to give guest lectures at outside institutions.

A two-time recipient of the University Medical Center Safe Surgeon Award, Dr. Marks has also been the recipient of the Patients' Choice Award (2014, 2016) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award (2014, 2016, 2017).

As proud native Texans, Longhorns, & childhood sweethearts, he and his wife, Amanda, have followed their long-time dream of moving back to Austin. When not treating patients, he enjoys playing with his three children, running, playing chess, reading books about quantum physics, and playing the piano.
