Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Michael Reed, who serves patients in Nashville, Tennessee.
New York City, Aug 3, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Dr. Reed is a trusted, award-winning psychiatrist working at Associated Psychiatrists of Nashville in Tennessee, of which he is a Co-Founder. He strives to help his patients understand the nature of human instinct as it drives them through the wilds of their own lives.
Psychotherapy is key to the care that the doctor provides his patients. Unlike more than 85% of other psychiatrists, he does not ask his patients to see other clinicians to receive psychotherapy as he himself is well trained and experienced in providing that aspect of care. (Even so, Dr. Reed welcomes anyone who is already in treatment with another psychotherapist as he can add a synergistic dimension to their experience.)
Depression, anxiety, insomnia, and many psychiatric problems are often due to chronic inflammation of the brain, a fact most doctors do not know yet. Dr. Reed, on the cutting edge of this aspect of psychiatry, integrates it into the assessment and treatment of all his patients.
On the subject of his educational background, Dr. Reed graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee, earning a degree in Zoology with a special emphasis on Ethology. He was a charter member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society at East Tennessee State University - Quillen College of Medicine where he graduated with his medical degree in 1985.
Wanting to further his training, he completed his residency in psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was the recipient of the Marc H. Hollender Award for Outstanding Performance by a Resident. Since the completion of his medical education, tens of thousands of hours of clinical experience have provided him with wisdom useful for untangling complexities of all sorts.
This past decade has honored Dr. Reed as a multiyear recipient of the Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award as well as the Patients' Choice the city of Nashville. An authority in his field, Dr. Reed has also been the recipient of the Top 10 Doctors Award for the State of Tennessee.
