Karam’s Catering Meets Commercial Food Producer FDA Registration Requirements

Karam's Catering, part of the Karam family of restaurants in Portland, Oregon, successfully renewed its bi-annual registration with the FDA as a commercial food producer.

February 20, 2020. Portland, Oregon, The commercial kitchen for Karam’s Catering and Karam Lebanese Restaurants has qualified for Registration with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines as a commercial food producer.
As a precaution to track food quality and safety, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requests that wholesale food producers register with them as a Commercial Food Facility for purposes of tracking food production as it passes through the food industry supply chain.
This insures the maximum possible safety of all consumers of food products as food production facilities are tracked on a periodic basis to make sure that minimum safety standards are met according to FDA guidelines. Neither the FDA or USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) have confirmed any kind of link demonstrating the transmission of the novel Covid-19 virus via food products.
“Generally speaking, restaurants are not required to meet this stringent FDA standard, however, because Karam’s Catering and Karam’s Lebanese Restaurants, including both Karam Lebanese Deli in Beaverton and Karam Restaurant and Bar in downtown Portland, utilize the same commercial kitchen facility in Beaverton, they also have the benefit of meeting these stringent food safety requirements,” stated the Karam family.
A spokesman for the Karam family further stated that, “Because we value our FDA registration status, we have always maintained the highest food and facility cleanliness and safety standards possible.This includes both our restaurant and catering operations.”
