What is speed friending?
Speed friending is similar to speed dating, but instead of focusing on romantic connections, it focuses on building new friendships. Participants attend an event and engage in short, several-minute-long conversations with other attendees to get to know them better and potentially make new friends. Like speed dating, the goal of speed friending is to meet as many people as possible in a short amount of time, and participants typically sign up in advance to attend. Speed friending events are often organized by social clubs, community organizations, or events planning companies, and can be a fun and efficient way for people to expand their social circle and make new friends.
How to speed friending works:
Seated at a table, you will talk to a person for 8 minutes. Once the 8 minutes are up, you will move to the next person to talk to. We will have several rounds of speed friending. You are welcome to exchange contact details with the other person during the speed friending.
On IWD, we can show our appreciation for the accomplishments of female leaders and role models and use the day as an opportunity to take action to drive greater gender equality.
