Help for Healthcare Professionals (HHCP) proudly announces The 2023 "Night of Glam and Gratitude" Charity Awards Gala

Atlanta, Georgia Mar 2, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Help for Healthcare Professionals (HHCP) proudly announces the 2023 "Night of Glam and Gratitude" Charity Awards Gala presented in partnership with ATL Plus Magazine, to be held at the Atlanta Marriott Northeast/Emory (2000 Century Blvd NE Atlanta, Georgia) on April 1, 2023, at 6 pm E.T.  Shelli-Ann McKenzie, founder of HHCP, is a nurse leader, clinical informatics strategist, educator, speaker, advocate, and entrepreneur.  Shelli-Ann has been a nurse for 20 years and was inspired to start HHCP during Covid-19 to provide support for frontline workers. Shelli-Ann is passionate about serving in the community, dedicated to holistic patient care, and developing emerging nurse leaders.

In its third year, HHCP's Charity Awards Gala will honor the significant achievements of nurses, doctors, paramedics, respiratory therapists, social workers, community health workers, and pharmacists who continue to pave the way while making a difference in our lives and our community. There will be 20 awards presented to healthcare professionals and first responders. 

This year's honorees have been nominated by members of the community and selected by a diverse group of leaders from HHCP's Awards Committee.  Each recipient will receive the prestigious Mary Jane Seacole Award in recognition as the "best among the best" for their heroism and leadership in the healthcare and first responder community in Metro Atlanta. Celebrate the achievements of these award recipients with our special celebrity host, attendees, Bravo's Married to Medicine cast members, healthcare influencers, and dignitaries.  

Some of the local nominees include: 

• Sheriff Melody Maddox, the first African American female Sheriff for Dekalb County, community service advocate, 2017 graduate of Leadership DeKalb, and CEO of Woman 2 Woman Personal Awareness and Safety Training
• Nelson So, Deputy Commander for Administration, Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at US Army; Member of American College of Healthcare Executive
• Dr. Heavenly Kimes, leading Atlanta dentist- Smiles by Dr. Heavenly, author, inspirational speaker, business mogul, Owner of Heavenly Beauty, Dr. Heavenly University, Heavenly Investment Group, relationship expert, and a cast member of Bravo's Married to Medicine
• Dr. Mary Jo Lechowicz, Primary Investigator for Emory University Hospital for Lymphoma, particularly related to transplantation and patients with Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma
• Dr. Angelita Howard, Assisting Dean and Founder of Online Education and Expanded Programs at Morehouse School of Medicine, Educational Pioneer and Vocalist
• Dr. Simone Whitmore, Physician, Serial Entrepreneur, Owner of North Perimeter, and a cast member of Bravo's Married to Medicine
• Falecia Elibert, Registered Nurse, Serial Entrepreneur of multiple locations for Cleansing Water Spas and Smoothie Kings, and the first African American to develop a shopping plaza in Fayetteville, GA. 
• Jeff Scarbrough, Fire Chief/Department Director-Athens Clarke County, Fire and Emergency Services in Public Safety, Emergency Response, Emergency Management, Strategic Planning, and Personnel Administration
• Dr. Mary Gullatte, Emory Healthcare Corporate Director of Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing
• Dr. Contessa Metcalfe, Board Certified Preventive Medicine Physician, Serial Entrepreneur, Community Activist, and US Navy Flight Surgeon Veteran 

This year's event aims to raise $350,000 to support healthcare workers and first responders by providing scholarships, financial assistance, internships, custom care packages, food assistance, crisis counseling, training programs, crisis behavioral health programs, wellness programs, and peer support groups. HHCP was founded to provide support and services to the members of our community who have devoted their lives to keeping us safe and healthy. Nurses, doctors, paramedics, respiratory therapists, social workers, community health workers, and pharmacists; are only a few brave and heroic individuals making a difference and impacting our lives and community. On May 23, 2022, the Surgeon General's Advisory highlighted the need to address the burnout and resignations of health workers and the call to action to circumvent the systemic challenges and shortages of future healthcare workers. The crisis became a national priority requiring the nation to respond with specific directives for health systems, insurers, government, training institutions, and other stakeholders. The advisory was also intended to broaden awareness of healthcare worker burnout's threat to the nation's overall health. Public awareness and support are essential to ensuring sustained action. 

HHCP aims to reach healthcare professional communities across Metro Atlanta to mitigate healthcare worker burnout, strengthen public investments and health in the workforce, increase access to mental health care for healthcare workers, and address healthcare professionals' overall well-being by valuing and protecting this special community. Each year we provide targeted programs and services to fulfill our three core pillars- advocacy, education, and crisis relief. As we expand our Crossroads Education and Skills Training Programs, we ensure sustainability in the healthcare workforce. We do this by removing barriers that impede both aspiring and existing members of the healthcare ecosystems' ability to obtain comprehensive training. Long-term, this creates healthier communities with better access to healthcare.
