ClearCost Payments, an Orange County merchant services company, breaks down each fee on a merchant's statement, calculates the effective rate, and compares it with no-contract interchange-plus or $0-fee dual pricing.
Orange County, United States, October 30, 2026 -- ClearCost Payments, a merchant services company based in Orange County, California, is offering small businesses a free Rate Analysis that estimates their costs for accepting credit cards based on the statements provided. A merchant can send in two recent monthly processing statements. ClearCost says it reviews the fees shown and returns a side-by-side comparison with its pricing at no charge.
Processing statements often run several pages and spread charges across dozens of line items, so it is hard to answer a basic question: what is the average credit card processing fee my business pays? The ClearCost Free Rate Analysis estimates the merchant's effective rate from the statements provided, using total fees divided by total card sales. The comparison estimates the difference in dollars per month and per year based on the statements provided.
"When business owners send us their statements, the cost of taking cards is usually spread across pages of fees," said Scott Zech of ClearCost Payments. "We go through the statement line by line and show them their real rate in plain numbers. If we can save them money, we'll show them exactly how much. If we can't, we'll tell them straight."
How the Free Rate Analysis works
Send the last two full monthly statements, every page and every location, by upload, text or email.
ClearCost reviews each fee line by line and calculates the effective rate.
The merchant gets a comparison of current costs against ClearCost's plan and decides whether to switch. There is no cost and no obligation.
Two pricing options
ClearCost offers two pricing models. Interchange-plus pricing passes through the card networks' interchange cost and adds a fixed markup, so merchants can see what the networks charge and what the processor charges. ClearCost says its markup is fixed under the terms of the processing agreement. Interchange itself is set by the card networks and can change. The second option is dual pricing, which displays cash and card prices on the ticket; applicable pricing and fees depend on the merchant’s agreement. ClearCost recommends it only when a business's signage and receipts can show both prices clearly.
ClearCost says both options are month-to-month and have no cancellation fee under its processing agreement. ClearCost says qualifying merchants may be eligible for next-day funding and equipment without a lease, subject to applicable terms. The company also describes its processor and POS support as available 24/7, except on most federal holidays.
Setups for different types of businesses
Beyond processing, ClearCost helps merchants choose a POS and payment setup that fits how they operate. Supported systems include Clover, SwipeSimple, PAX, Dejavoo and FigurePOS. The company works with restaurants and bars, quick-service restaurants and self-order kiosks, retail stores, grocery stores, salons, contractors, auto repair shops, and medical and dental practices. It also sets up merchant accounts for new businesses that have no processing statements yet, and helps merchants who are leaving Square or Stripe move their card processing to a new merchant account.
ClearCost serves Southern California, including Los Angeles, San Diego and the Inland Empire, as well as merchants nationwide. Merchants can request a Free Rate Analysis at ClearCostPayments.com or by calling or texting 949-946-2442.

As tightening US visa restrictions and geopolitics lock out Asian researchers from Western institutions, South Korea is emerging as a new academic sanctuary for top talent. According to Yoo Ji-beom, president of Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in Seoul, that reflects a broader trend that has seen the West giving way to Asia after decades of dominance – particularly in the field of applied technology in China, Japan and South Korea. “Technological competition and global talent mobility are...
More than a month after sparking public outrage by soiling herself during Hyrox Beijing, Australian athlete Joanna Wietrzyk has announced she is “super excited” about returning to competition. In a new video posted on her social media, the 24-year-old said the past several weeks gave her an opportunity to re-examine the incident and learn from it. “So I’ve had some time to reflect over the past six to eight weeks of everything that happened in Beijing,” she said, offering another apology. “I...
China has successfully launched and landed a GJ-21 drone from its first Type 076 amphibious assault ship, state media said on Friday. The Sichuan conducted consecutive sea trials late this month, according to state broadcaster CCTV, which did not disclose the location. “The [People’s Liberation Army’s] first shipborne reconnaissance-strike stealth drone, the GJ-21, has successfully completed its maiden take-off and landing on the amphibious assault ship Sichuan,” the report said. “It represents...
Chinese President Xi Jinping renewed a years-long anti-corruption drive at a major Communist Party meeting, while the general who led a military anti-graft purge was promoted to the Politburo. The document also highlighted “unwritten rules” as a key issue to address. Zhang Shengmin, Xi’s vice-chairman on the...
A leading economist warned on Thursday that the United States and China are in a “conflicted co-dependency” that this year’s two bilateral summits failed to address. “I think there’s a good chance that we’re in a temporarily more stable place. But to say that has solved the deep-rooted problems between us, I think is a real stretch,” said Stephen Roach, a veteran China-watcher and the former chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, at the China Institute of America. “You mentioned the two summits that...
Amid attempts this year to impress each other with splendour, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping appear to have decided that the relationship between their two countries should primarily run through their personal relationship. This has been a hallmark of the Trump years. The American executive branch has always held near-unilateral authority over foreign policy, but Trump has concentrated that in himself. Dozens of ambassadors and senior national security advisers have...
Beijing has provided new details on the scale of its anti-corruption drive across the People’s Liberation Army and defence industry, confirming that a fresh batch of senior figures is under formal investigation. They include top generals who once oversaw theatre commands, heads of the powerful Central Military Commission (CMC) General Office and executives in key defence companies. The names were included in a communique released on Thursday at the close of the fifth plenum of the Communist...
