Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico - December 8, 2023 /PressCable/ —

Certolab in Plaza San Miguel, Cuautitlan Izcalli, State of Mexico, has announced that its renal system tests are now available for online ordering from the comfort of home.

The renal system, also known as the urinary system, consists of the kidneys, which are two bean-shaped organs located in the back of the abdomen, one on each side of the spine. They are responsible for performing several critical functions, the ureters, which are muscular ducts that transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder, an organ that temporarily stores urine before it is eliminated from the body, and the urethra, which is the duct that transports urine from the bladder outside the body.

The process of purifying or filtering the blood in the renal system begins in the kidneys. Their main function is to filter and purify the blood to remove waste products and excess substances produced by metabolism that the body does not need and can also be toxic, maintaining the balance of adequate water and electrolyte levels in the body. Additionally, the kidneys contribute to maintaining the blood's pH within normal ranges and regulating blood pressure by controlling the amount of fluid in the body and releasing renin and erythropoietin, a hormone that stimulates the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow, activating vitamin D, necessary for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestine, and producing urine.

Urine is a biological fluid produced in the kidneys as a result of the blood filtration process and the subsequent elimination of waste and excess substances through the urinary system. It is composed mainly of water, essential for the elimination of waste and the regulation of the body's water balance, urea, which is the result of protein breakdown and is one of the main waste products of the body, creatinine; a byproduct of muscle metabolism, uric acid; a waste product of purine metabolism, found in certain foods and body cells, salts and electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, phosphate, and other ions regulated by the kidneys, and various decomposition products of medications and toxins; substances that the body does not need and must eliminate.

The results of a general urine test (EGO) provide valuable information about the health of the urinary system and can help detect various medical conditions. This type of analysis is a commonly used tool in medical practice to evaluate kidney function, identify potential problems in the urinary tract, and detect underlying diseases or medical conditions. For example, the presence of white blood cells, bacteria, or nitrites can indicate an infection in the urinary tract, such as a bladder or kidney infection. The presence of blood can indicate kidney stones, infections, tumors, or injuries, and the concentration of substances such as glucose or ketones can indicate uncontrolled diabetes. The EGO can also provide information about the health of the bladder and urethra, helping to detect conditions such as bladder stones or prostate problems in men. Likewise, the presence of blood cells or proteins in the urine can suggest the possibility of autoimmune disorders affecting the kidneys, such as systemic lupus erythematosus.

In patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or kidney diseases, periodic EGOs can help evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and adjust them as necessary. Therefore, urine analysis is a basic routine resource for the health care of people and should be performed in professional and reliable laboratories like Certolab, Medical Laboratory, to ensure that the information is accurate and to adequately assist the treating physician in making a timely and accurate diagnosis.

‘Opportunistic’: experts weigh Manila’s minilateral agenda ahead of Trump-Xi meeting

The Philippines’ dual push for stronger “minilateral” defence links and a more robust Asean security role is dividing analysts, with one calling the move “opportunistic”. Some experts view Manila’s advocacy for the “Squad” alliance as a strategic opportunity to deepen core security partnerships while chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Others question how much actual weight is carried by this informal defence grouping – comprising the United States, the Philippines, Japan and...

Europe considers new quotas and tariffs to stem Chinese imports

The European Union may hit more Chinese industries with quotas or tariffs before further negotiations with Beijing, the bloc’s trade chief said on Friday, naming plastics as a sector in which investigations are advanced. Maros Sefcovic said that when the bloc needs to move quickly to protect its industries, it will consider safeguards, which allow emergency measures to curb surges in imports, instead of engaging in longer negotiations. “We clearly will have to put it in order, prioritise, and...
