Oct 9, 2026

With more support from Mizhen’s Jacob Fund, the festival aims to promote independent craftsmanship and skills by displaying various local vendors and artists. The event is also known to play a pivotal role in the promotion of native talent within the community.

New York, NY, United States, October 9, 2026 -- Earlier this year, entrepreneur and philanthropist Boris Mizhen established the Jacob Fund, a charitable initiative created to help provide food and shelter to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. The fund operates through Chabad of the Shoreline, a Jewish community organization focused on education, support, and outreach through study, prayer, and acts of service. Through the initiative, Mizhen seeks to contribute to efforts that provide practical assistance to members of the local community facing difficult circumstances.

Headed by Rabbi Yossi Yaffe in Guilford, Connecticut, Chabad of the Shoreline was founded to create ties and bonds among people within the New Haven community. The group achieves its goals by helping Jewish people connect to their heritage through innovative programs and communal events, which run throughout the year. The Jacob Fund conforms to the same goals of the organization by assisting those in need of spiritual or material assistance, specifically for food and shelter. Rabbi Yaffe has publicly praised Mr. Mizhen’s role within the Chabad on multiple occasions for his consistent aid in caring for people who work hard to build a better life for those with currently unstable financial means.

Remaining loyal to the mission maintained by Rabbi Yaffe, Boris Mizhen has pledged to donate every month to the Chabad and has been doing so for the last three years. “Boris Mizhen is the most generous person I know”, says Rabbi Yaffe. Every August, the Chabad hosts an annual Shoreline Jewish Festival, where they invite members of the community for a weekend of events, concerts, and competitions. With more support from Mizhen’s Jacob Fund, the festival aims to promote independent craftsmanship and skills by displaying various local vendors and artists. The event is also known to play a pivotal role in the promotion of native talent within the community.

Flavio Bolsonaro says he would work with China and US as Brazil’s president

Flavio Bolsonaro said he would work with the US and China if he becomes Brazil’s president, after a surprise election performance left him poised to join a wave of conservative leaders pushing Latin America closer to Washington. “I’m not going to pick sides,” Bolsonaro said at an event in Brasilia on Thursday. “My side will be the Brazilian people, whether we’re dealing with China, Israel, the Middle East, Argentina or India. It doesn’t matter. That’s how I’m going to govern.” Bolsonaro finished...

China breakthrough projected to push sustainable jet fuel gross profit margin past 50%

Chinese researchers have developed a catalyst that converts synthesis gas into sustainable jet fuel – an advance that could boost production, help meet net-zero carbon goals and yield a gross profit margin above 50 per cent. The team verified the efficacy of the chemical catalyst in a thousand-tonne pilot test and found that combining woody biomass-derived synthesis gas, or syngas, with the cobalt-manganese catalyst enabled the “highly efficient synthesis of jet fuel”. Based on a techno-economic...

Hong Kong rejects US downgrade to lowest tier in human trafficking report

The United States has downgraded Hong Kong to the lowest tier in its annual human trafficking report, citing shortcomings in prosecutions and victim identification, an assessment the city’s government rejected as “entirely unfounded”. The US State Department’s 2026 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, released on Thursday, moved Hong Kong from the Tier 2 Watch List, where it had been listed for two consecutive years, to Tier 3. That places the city alongside mainland China and Macau among 20...
