$260 Million Bid - Xinran Enters Bidding for Natural Gas Pipeline Centrifugal Compressor Project

Oct 8, 2026

Shanghai, China, October 8, 2026 -- Recently, Xinran Group’s compressor business submitted a bid for PipeChina’s 2026 Centralized Procurement Project for Compressor Units (Tender No.: FA-JGGS-26080221).

Project Overview and General Requirements

Under PipeChina’s centralized procurement plan, the Construction Project Management Company has organized a framework-agreement tender for centrifugal compressor units, including centrifugal compressors, drive motors and variable-frequency drives (VFDs). Xinran Compressor participated in the bidding for this lot. PipeChina’s estimated budget is approximately US$260 million.

Based on the Group’s engineering-construction priorities, the required quantities and specifications of centrifugal compressor units have been systematically reviewed. Projects include, but are not limited to, the Shijiazhuang–Puyang Natural Gas Pipeline Project, Wen 23–Anqing Natural Gas Pipeline Project, Huainan Booster Project on the Chuan-Er-Dong Zaoxuan Interconnection Line, the Sichuan–Chongqing–Hubei Section (Tongliang–Qianjiang) of the Second West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, and the Huaihua–Hengyang Section of the Zunyi–Ji’an Natural Gas Pipeline Project. Approximately 36 centrifugal compressor units are expected to be required, with an estimated value of US$260 million. Detailed requirements are shown in the table below.

All required approvals and filings for PipeChina’s 2026 centralized procurement of compressor units have been completed. The tendering entity is PipeChina’s Construction Project Management Branch, and funding for the project has been secured.

Long‑distance natural‑gas pipeline compressors are known as the “heart” of gas transmission pipelines. Representing core equipment with extremely high technical barriers in energy infrastructure, they demand exacting standards for continuous stable operation, medium adaptability and long‑term reliability. Centrifugal pipeline compressors pose particularly formidable R&D and manufacturing challenges. Core aerodynamic design software has long been dominated by overseas players. For high‑power units, impellers and rotors must satisfy both high‑pressure operating conditions and dynamic‑balance performance under high‑speed rotation. Heavy capital investment is required for R&D validation and test‑bench construction, resulting in high development thresholds and enormous trial‑and‑error costs.

Shanghai Xinran Compressor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinran Group, has formally participated in the bidding for this major PipeChina compressor-unit procurement project. The tender covers 36 pipeline compressor units and has a budget of nearly US$260 million. As a Chinese pipeline-compressor manufacturer, Xinran’s participation highlights the Group’s growing presence in the high-end pipeline compressor market.

Pipeline compressors involve sophisticated technologies. They must accommodate pressure fluctuations across long-distance pipeline networks, support continuous, around-the-clock operation, and meet requirements for natural-gas compatibility, integrated compressor-unit systems, and explosion protection. Shanghai Xinran Compressor Co., Ltd.’s ability to manufacture complete pipeline compressor units and participate in bidding for major national pipeline-network projects marks an important milestone.

Drawing on expertise from industry specialists, universities, and research institutes worldwide, Xinran Group has independently designed its natural gas pipeline compressors. The Group has also recruited several experienced international compressor specialists. In China, it collaborates with professors from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Dalian University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and other institutions on the joint development of natural gas pipeline compressors with independent intellectual property rights.

Drawing on years of technical expertise in oil and gas compressors, Xinran is a qualified supplier to PetroChina, CNOOC, Sinopec, Yanchang Petroleum, and other companies, and has supplied oil and gas compressors to them for many years. Xinran has also built up substantial engineering experience in pipeline compressors. In the domestic market, the company has deployed branch-line natural gas pipeline compressors in the Sichuan–Chongqing area of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field. It has participated in Shenergy Group’s bidding process for pipeline compressors for a gas transmission project connecting Shanghai Port and Fengxian, and has bid for gas compressor projects involving Hebei Lima Gas. It has also submitted bids for compressor projects related to the China–Russia Pipeline and the West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipeline. Through these projects, the company has developed extensive technical expertise and project experience in urban pipeline networks and oil and gas branch-line transportation, supported by the required qualifications and complete-unit manufacturing capabilities.

Alongside its domestic operations, Xinran Group is actively expanding into overseas markets for high-end natural gas pipeline compressors. It has participated in bidding for pipeline compressor and oil and gas compressor projects involving Gazprom (Russia), QazaqGaz (Kazakhstan), Turkmengaz (Turkmenistan), Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia), ADNOC (Abu Dhabi), TC Energy (Canada), and other companies. Through these efforts, Xinran has competed alongside international industry players and attracted attention in overseas markets.

Participation in this PipeChina tender for 36 pipeline compressor units worth roughly RMB 1.6 billion serves as a comprehensive technical validation for Xinran Compressor. It also marks Xinran’s in‑depth entry into the core‑equipment segment for China’s main‑line natural‑gas pipeline network. In recent years, Xinran has achieved explosive growth in its oil‑and‑gas pipeline‑compressor business, advancing both major domestic energy projects and global‑market development. Going forward, the enterprise will continue to invest in technological breakthroughs for pipeline compressors, optimize unit performance, and contribute Xinran‑manufactured solutions for cost reduction and efficiency improvement for global natural‑gas pipeline networks.

Xinran Group operates companies or manufacturing facilities in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi’an, Urumqi, Xuzhou, and other locations in China. Internationally, it maintains offices or works with local partners in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Houston (USA), Alberta (Canada), Moscow (Russia), Astana (Kazakhstan), Singapore, Dhahran (Saudi Arabia), Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), Lagos (Nigeria), Algiers (Algeria), Luanda (Angola), and other locations. We welcome inquiries from professionals in the oil and gas pipeline industry regarding business cooperation and distributorship opportunities.
