Huanggang port to officially open on Monday morning

The revamped Huanggang port will officially open and begin 24-hour clearance services for passengers and passenger vehicles at 6.30am on October 12, the Security Bureau and the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government announced on Friday. In a joint statement, the two sides said the new port building has passed "acceptance inspection" as well as a series of system tests, trials and emergency drills, confirming it's ready for operation. The Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area and related extended areas were commissioned on July 31 and are subject to the jurisdiction of the SAR in accordance with its laws, the statement said, adding that the official opening date was agreed by the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong. With the new port coming into service, passenger clearance services at the temporary port building of the Huanggang port in Shenzhen and the Lok Ma Chau control point in Hong Kong will be suspended.
